Art
project by Creative Mums Womanly at Manly
Beach - T-Shirt Clothes line
|
'Weather
conditions ideal for drying clothes, but not as great
for public art, didn't hinder the success of the Womanly
exhibtion at Manly Cove. Some of the shirts were rolling
up in the wind but people walking by stopped, unravelled
them and took a look. The different works on the shirts
were the various artists representations of women. "

some Stories about Our Creative Mums

“Creativity
is a great outlet and I guess when women become mothers
they reconnect in some way with this new creativity
inside them. We aim to awaken and nurture this creativity
of women”, Ms van Boxtel said.
“Pregnancy [is] a great time to reflect on
your life so far and start afresh. If this means continuing
with your career that’s great too. It’s
also looking creatively at your life and reprioriting
if necessary.”

Diane Hansen is a local psychologist, children's author
and illustrator and mother of two.
'I believe that creative expression comes in many forms,
including work. When people are using all their natural
talents and abilities, they work with passion and are
happier, motivated and more fulfilled. Truly loving
the work you do comes out of a desire to express all
of who you are through the work you do.

Belly Mandala Painting
Pregnant women can join into a creative workshop and
learn to colour a pattern called a mandala , which will
be transferred onto their bellies.

of the mandalas are a great way to reflect on a larger
picture of life. As a new mother to be there is only
so much shopping you can do to prepare yourself for
the new journey ahead.

Beautiful
Bump in Living Colour
USUALLY
painting and making a mess is after a baby is born.
But this stage has come early for a group
of women at Manly, who are using their pregnant bellies
as blank canvases for exotic works of art.
Leader of the pack and mother of four,
Angela Van Boxtel, came up with the idea two months
ago to make being pregnant "more beautiful".
